haircare journey #2: wanting a diffuser
This is over a 4 year period, by the way.
I have wanted a diffuser since the time my aunty came round to teach me how to do my hair.
All my friends had one
So by all, I mean like two.
But anyway, I was listening to them going ‘yh, I don’t have to wait for my hair to dry’. Or it’s really good because ‘wet hair can damage your scalp’ - I am not sure about that one.
So now I had my mindset on getting one.
What I thought a diffuser was…
I didn’t know that you could just by a blow dryer and stick something on top.
I thought it was a whole thing. Like the green and white one that looks like a hand - I don’t know what it is called.
Thinking its not for my hair
I, like any curl person on their hair journey, watch videos of people doing their hair. But when I looked up how to use a diffuser, they all had hair textures of 2a-3b. I know I come under that but I didn’t know at the time.
My hair had tighter curls than my friends - my hair texture changed - so I thought oh not for tighter hair.
*well, I don’t know if my hair texture had changed but since my hair has got longer my curls are different. I personally prefer tighter curls but anyways.
Not really wanting one
Then after this, I realised I don’t want one.
If it’s not going to work in my hair I don’t want one.
Also, my friend said that she didn’t really like it because it made her hair frizzy. I don’t know if that’s because of the way she uses it.
So I forgot about it.
Finally getting one
Now, this Christmas. My mum got one.
Well, she got a blow dryer and the round bit came as one of the extra parts.
I have started using it and it is such a slow process. And my arms hurt.
No, I am joking.
Buts seriously I glorified it so much that now that I have it. I am not, not happy but, it takes longer and I thought it sped up the process.
But it could also be because I don’t know what I am doing.
